Notice of Apprenticeship Opportunity

FOR THE POSITION OF INSIDE WIREMAN APPRENTICE

ATTENTION! The Charleston Electrical JATC is accepting apprenticeship applications starting January 5th, 2026 and ending March 6th, 2026 in the following Counties: (Charleston area) WV- Boone, Braxton, Calhoun, Clay, Fayette, Gilmer, Kanawha, Nicholas, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Summers, Webster, and Wyoming Counties.   (Bluefield/Princeton Area) WV-Monroe, McDowell, Mercer, and Greenbrier  VA-Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Giles, Grayson, Smyth, Tazewell, and Wythe.

• Aptitude Testing and Interview will be done after Application period is over.
• Apprenticeship class will be selected by June 1st, 2025.
• Class will be held at Charleston and Princeton Locations.
• 4 Year Electrical Program Sponsored by NECA and the IBEW.
• 20+ Saturdays a school year.
• Monthly Training days at our Training Center in Charleston, WV.
• $600/per school year for book and computer fees.
• College credit obtainable upon completion.
• EARN AS YOU LEARN with multiple Electrical Contractors.
• Starting pay will be (Charleston Area $20.95/hr) and (Bluefield/Princeton Area $16.49) with 2.5-5% pay increase every 6 months (1000Hrs) worked for the 5 years of Apprenticeship.
• Yearly CBA Raises.
• 80/20 Full Family Health Insurance with an HRA Account.
• Three different Retirements/Pensions.
• Upon completion of the apprenticeship, you will have a set of skills that will allow ou to go anywhere in the United States and do electrical work with the IBEW.

-WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU-

To meet minimum qualifications for application to the apprenticeship an applicant must:

A. Be a minimum of 17 years of age to apply and 18 years of age at the time of indenture.

B. Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the trade.

C. Provide proof of high school graduation Diploma or have a GED. 

D. Provide an official transcript of high school and post high school education and training. All GED records must be submitted if applicable.

E. Show evidence of successful completion of one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade.

F. Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.

G. Qualify for interview using the electrical trade’s aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research. Information about preparing for the aptitude test can be found at http://www.electricprep.com (test will be scheduled for you after application)

H. Present evidence that they possess a valid driver’s license.

I. Individuals who can verify (proper documentation required) that they have worked a minimum of four thousand (4000) hours specifically in the electrical construction trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items (c), (d) and (e).

J. At time of Application, there is an application fee of $20.00
